Special Seminar for Change in Nigeria

A one-day seminar held at Oba Akenzua Cultural Center, Airport Road, Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria on the 26th of January, 2011. reveals the zeal of the president to contribute his quota towards a better NIGERIA, taking EDO as a clew to better things to come. The event which was sponsored by the Solomon Iyobosa Edebiri Center for Change, a non-profit charitable organization with the broad aim of becoming a catalyst for change in terms of moving Nigeria toward comprehensive infrastructural development in every geographical corner of its society. The seminar will also witness the launching of a socio-philosophical ideology aimed at changing the attitudes of the Nigerian citizenry for the better.

The theme of the important event was “The Path toward a Greater Nigeria.” This theme rests on the belief that structural change will only come about when the individual Nigeria citizen changes his or her fundamental behavior patterns by adopting and practicing the four indispensable principles needed to move any nation state structurally forward and toward higher heights: Responsibility, Integrity, Transparency, and Accountability (RITA).

These four cardinal principles require every Nigerian citizen to strive to exceed mediocrity or ordinary expectations in the various areas of service to the nation regardless of who he or she may be, and regardless of the type of work he or she does.

The seminar, x-ray how far Nigeria has evolved as a nation state since independence, and spotlight how indiscipline and lack of foresight have been two of the major impediments of the country’s socioeconomic and industrial development.

It is worth noting that the seminar had in attendance participants from all works of life, various African countries, and the United States.
